In den Sechzigerjahren kam der Blues in die Schweiz. Am Anfang standen die American Folk Blues Festivals, die auch in Schweizer Städten Halt machten. Bald gehörten englische R & B Bands, die sich auf die Originale beriefen, zu den Promotoren und auch Schweizer Musiker spielten den Blues. Doch die Szene blieb überschaubar.

In the Sixties the blues came to Switzerland. The American Folk Blues festivals were the start and soon the English R&B bands promoted their idols too. This led to an active but rather small Swiss Blues scene, which also saw some active Swiss Blues musicians.

Der illegale Kellerclub Spex war Berns erster Punktreffpunkt. Er entstand im Umfeld der „Artpunks“, die im gleichen Gebäude die Modeboutique Olmo betrieben. Trotz seines kurzen Lebens (1978 – 1980) wirkte Spex nachhaltig: Es war das Laboratorium der urbanen Berner Popkultur.
