ASCONA BEAT FESTIVAL 1966
Plakat für ein Beat Festival in Ascona, 28. Mai 1966. Neben den Nightbirds standen die Teenagers rund um den Gitarristen, Sänger und Songschreiber Marco Zappa auf der Affiche. Auch die Zürcher Girlgroup The Ladies spielte in der altbewährten Taverna Ascona. Dort waren im Sommer 1964 die Yardbirds aufgetreten und hatten mit ihrem schweisstreibenden Konzert den Startschuss für die Nightbirds abgefeuert.
Poster for a Beat Festival in Ascona, 28th May 1966. The festival took place in the dancing Taverna, where in summer 1964 the Yardbirds had played during their legendary Ticino stay. Also on the festival bill besides the Nightbirds were the Teenagers (a young and great beat band led by the still active musician Marco Zappa) and Zurich girl beat band The Ladies.
MUSICORAMA 66
Plakat für ein von Félix Esseiva organisiertes Konzert im Volkshaus Zürich, 22. Oktober 1966. Neben den Nightbirds spielten die Profibands Wild Gentlemen (aus Genf) und The Rollicks (Berlin). Das Amateurlager war mit den Red Lions aus Zürich vertreten. Das Design erinnert an die Comicfigur Chouchou des französischen Teen-Blatts Salut Les Copains.
Poster for a 1966 Musicorama Show at the Volkshaus Zurich, organized by early Swiss Beat promotor Felix Esseiva. It featured the Nightbirds and also The Wild Gentlemen, a professional Beat Band from Geneva, as well as the Rollicks from Berlin and The Red Lions from Zurich.

Mario Del Don was the graphic designer of the Nightbirds. In this 20-page comic strip from 2014 he told the Nightbirds story from an insiders’ view - and with striking drawings!
