EARLIEST GOOD NEWS POSTER, JUNE 1970
In Basel war Christoph “Swiss Chris” Schwegler der Aussenposten von Good News. Noch vor dem offiziellen Start der Agentur organisierte er unter dem Good News Namen am 22. Juni 1970 in seiner Heimatstadt Basel ein Konzert mit den Bands Taste (Rory Gallagher) und Quintessence. Dies war nach Konzerten von Spooky Tooth, Nice und Yes schon das vierte Rockkonzert in den heiligen Hallen des Stadtheaters und der Komödie, das Schwegler veranstaltete.
Earliest poster with a mention of “Good News”. In Basel, the young Rock promoter Christoph “Swiss Chris” Schwegler was sort of an ambassador for the Good News agency. In June 1970 he organized a concert with Taste (Rory Gallagher) and Quintessence, using the Good News name for the first time. This was already the fourth Rock concert in Basel’s old theatre, after Spooky Tooth, Nice and Yes had played there too.

Grossformatiges Plakat für die Mini-Tour von Audience, Quatermass und Toad, welche diese progressive Rockbands im November 1970 in die Stadttheater von Bern und Basel und ins Theater 11 in Zürich führte. Dank Good News wurde Rock salonfähig.
Large Poster for the small Swiss tour of Audience, Quatermass and Toad in November 1970. The bands played in theaters, where usually only classical orchestras gave concerts. Thanks to Good News, Rock music found it’s place in the world of the establishment.

Plakat für das Konzert von Emerson Lake & Palmer, das diese auf ihrer ersten Europatournee im Limmathaus Zürich gaben. Dies war die wohl viel beachtetste frühe Good News Show, nicht zuletzt wegen der unbestrittenen Showman-Qualitäten des Trios. Dieses Plakat ist grösser als die üblichen Good News Streifen, das originale Streifen-Poster wird noch gesucht. Das gleiche Design wurde auch in Deutschland verwendet. Am Vorabend des Konzerts unternahm Peter Zumsteg mit ELP einen Nachttrip durchs Zürcher Niederdorf, wo das Trio bei einer spontanen Session im Hotel Hirschen gesichtet wurde.
A Poster for the Emerson Lake & Palmer at the Limmathaus Zurich, when ELP were on their first Europe tour. This was probably the most important early Good News Show, not least because of the trio's undisputed showman qualities. This poster is larger than the usual Good News strips, the original strip poster is still needed. The same design was also used in Germany. The evening before the concert, Peter Zumsteg and ELP took a night trip through Zurich's Niederdorf and the trio was spotted during a spontaneous session at the Hotel Hirschen.

Im Februar 1971 organisierte Good News als Koproduktion mit Freddy Burgers “Rent A Show” im Limmathaus Zürich ein Konzert mti dem braslianischen Orchesterchef und Bossa-Nova-Musiker Sergio Mendes.
