SEVENS & SHAMROCKS
Ab 1966 waren die Basler The Sevens die Nummer 2 hinter den Zürcher Swiss Beatles von Les Sauterelles. Immer wieder traten sie im Pony auf. Doch für die Schweizer Beat Bands wurde die Luft dünner. Mehr und mehr spielten „richtige“ Beat Bands in der Schweiz und natürlich auch im Pony. So The Shamrocks von der Isle Of Wight (nicht zu verwechseln mit der schwedischen und den Schweizer Bands mit gleichen Namen), die einen peppigen Rhythm and Blues Sound hatten.
Poster for Basel beat band The Sevens who by 1966 had become the No. 2 of the Swiss Beat bands behind Les Sauterelles (The „market leaders“ The Dynamites had lost some of their impact by then). Professional life did not get easier for the local Swiss bands, as there were more and more „real“ beat bands from the UK and other countries invading Switzerland. One of them were The Shamrocks from the Isle Of Wight (not to be confounded with the Scandinavian band with the same name) who played a though R & B set and published a great LP for Ariola in 1965.
