ANSELMO - THE COMPLETE DISCOGRAPHY

The first Pop Rhythm and Blues Festival was recorded and a live LP was released. This copy was signed by Anselmo Trend (Walty Anselmo, bassist Martin Walder and saxophonist Stephan Locher).

Originally, these recordings were planned as demos only for the first Krokodil album. But German label Liberty and their producer Siggi Loch were so satisfied with the results, that they released them straight ahead. Musically, this is progressive Rock with a a lot of Blues and some Folk - and of course some psychedelic drug influences. The album opener „You’re Still A Part Of Me“ was Walty Anselmo’s strongest song.

The second Krokodil album was similar to the first one, but a little more „original“ in parts.

Often cited as Krokodil’s psychedelic masterpiece. This was recorded as a foursome, as singer Hardy Hepp had left the band in late 1970 for a solo career. The unofficial fifth band member was German sound engineer and producer Dieter Dirks. The dreamy „Lady Of Attraction“ was sort of the album’s hit - sung by Walty Anselmo.

This was the first Krokodil album for their new record label Bazillus / Bellaphon. There were many similarities to „An Invisible World Revealed“ but this album was the most „Krautrock“ sounding one by Krokodil.

Here’s the comment of the late Veit Stauffer on „Discogs“: Blau! oh dear, well that's what i call "aural history" from zürich: we hear a voice from the audience: "noch einen söttigen!" (= "play another track, in the style we just heard") ... for fans and completists of Krokodil and Mistrels ... mixed with local hereos from the carneval season, brassbands and steelbands, just notorious nerds from the "züricher fasnacht": "when the saints go marchin in" etc. It's like to be in the middle of a radio broadcast with a special field recording-spleen ...

The fifth Krokodil album was also the last recorded with the classic line-up, featuring harp player Mojo Weideli. This was originally released as a double album and was recorded for a quadrophenia release. A later „compilation“ of this work was released in 1976 on a single stereo album only. „Sweat And Swim“ was sort of a „back to the roots“ thing. Walty sings Bob Dylan's „Talking World War III Blues“ and there’s even a cover of Elvis’s first Sun record „That’s All RIght Mama“. This sounds a bit like early Glam Rock (’n’Roll). But there’s also a 17-minutes Prog Rock number, covering a whole LP side.

After Krokodil’s dissolution, Walty Anselmo worked with guitarist Max Lässer. The duo joined the band of singer/songwriter Walter Lietha, wo sang in Grison dialect. This band was founded for a gig at the 1976 Lenzburg Folk Festival, but lasted for several years. On the live sampler for the festival, one of the tracks of the new band was included.

This album was credited to singer/songwriter Walter Lietha alone, but it included all of his Im Bode Band, including Walty Anselmo. This was quite a mature piece of music and is cited by swiss singer Sophie Hunger as an important influence.

This was Walty Anselmo’s last collaboration with Walter Lietha and his band. On this album, bass duties were shared with Peter Keiser, the twin brother of drummer Walter Kaiser. This twin team was to become very successful, playing on countless sessions and sharing the stage with the most successful Swiss musicians.

This tape only release was recorded with Gogo Frei’s Aarau based band Highrise, that also included Swiss Sixties keyboards legend Jelly Pastorini. Highrise were ready to rock any party and club with their repertoire of Sixties covers plus more.

Yet another collection of rare early Krokodil recordings from their very first pre Liberty sessions. It came with a bonus DVD, telling the Krokodil story via interviews with the band members.

The Corona year of 2020 saw the first proper „comeback“ studio album by Krokodil. It featured some remakes of Krokodil classics as well as new selfwritten songs. The line up of Krokodil 2020 consisted of Walty Anselmo, Düde Dürst, Terry Stevens and the „youngsters“ Adi Weyermann (git, voc) and Eric Strebel (kb).
